Recipe ingredients
- 3 lb. (750 g) boneless top sirloin steak
- Marinade
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) red wine
- ¼ cup (60 mL) extra-virgin olive oil*
- ¼ cup (60 mL) soya sauce*
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 2 tsp. (10 mL) salt
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) grated ginger
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) dried mint
- 1 lb. (450 g) white mushrooms
Preparation
Trim the steak and cut into cubes about 1½ in. (4 cm).
In a large bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients.
Add the beef cubes.
Marinate in the refrigerator for 3 hours. Turn the cubes from time to time.
Preheat the barbecue to medium heat.
Drain the meat.
Thread the meat on skewers, alternating meat cubes and mushrooms.
Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
Suggestion
Give the brochettes a flavour boost by coating them in fine herbs.
This dry rub adds a protective layer that keeps the meat’s internal juices inside.
Accompaniments: grated potato galettes, green and wax beans.
Medium or full-bodied red wine.
