Recipe ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) Irresistibles walnut oil*
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) chopped onion
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) pine nuts
- ½ tsp. (2 mL) chopped fresh oregano
- 4 x 5 oz. (4 x 160 g) Red Grill Angus top sirloin beef steaks
- 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) Irresistibles extra virgin olive oil*
- 4 x 2 oz (4 x 60 g) slices of firm cheese
- Irresistibles freshly ground black pepper* to taste
Preparation
In a frying pan, lightly brown the onions and pine nuts in the oil at medium-low.
Add the oregano and remove from the heat. Set aside.
Preheat the oven to "broil".
In the other frying pan, sear the steaks at medium-high in the olive oil for 2 minutes per side.
Transfer the steaks to a roasting pan.
Spread the onion-nut mixture on the steaks.
Top each steak with a cheese slice and season with pepper.
Broil in the oven until the cheese starts melting.
Suggestion
Oven broiling is an excellent way to reheat small pieces of meat quickly. Accompaniments: snow peas and oven-baked tomatoes.
Medium or full-bodied red wine.
