Recipe ingredients
- 2¼ lb. (1 kg) cubed stew beef
- 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) Irresistibles canola oil*
- 1 medium onion, sliced very thin
- 1 cup (250 mL) cold water
- 1 cup (250 mL) demi-glace*
- 1 19-oz. (540-mL) can chick peas*, drained
- 1 28-oz. (796 mL) can, crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) Irresistibles curry powder*
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef cubes and brown. Set aside.
In the same skillet, brown onion, then add browned beef.
Add water and demi-glace and bring to a boil.
Stir in chick peas, tomatoes and curry powder.
Transfer everything to a slow cooker.
Cook on medium setting for 4 hours.
