Recipe ingredients
- Meatballs
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or veal
- 1 large egg*
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) Worcestershire sauce*
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) minced onion
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) sour cream
- 1/3 cup (80 mL) breadcrumbs*
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) minced fresh ginger
- To taste salt and pepper
- Sauce
- 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) Irresistibles extra virgin olive oil*
- ½ cup (125 mL) minced onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 19 oz (540 mL) can chopped tomatoes*
- 1 tsp. (5 mL) Irresistibles dried oregano*
- To taste freshly ground pepper
Preparation
Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a bowl mix meatball ingredients and make 1-inch (2.5-cm) meatballs and arrange them on a cookie sheet.
Bake 20 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking time. Meatballs are done when they show no pink. Set aside.
Sauce
In a saucepan, heat the oil. Add the onion and garlic and cook over moderate heat for 5 minutes.
Add the tomatoes and oregano and cook for 5 minutes. Season.
Pour the meatballs over the sauce for 30 minutes until the sauce is bubbling.
Serve with rice or penne
