Recipe ingredients

  • 2 cups (500 mL) strawberries, quartered
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) Irresistibles aged Modena balsamic vinegar, reduced to a syrup (see below )
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) Irresistibles 100% pure Maple Syrup
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. (22.5 mL) Irresistibles extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) fresh basil, chopped
  • 16 whole basil leaves
  • 8 small bocconcini balls
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Maple flakes, to taste

Preparation

In a mixing bowl, combine strawberries, reduced balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, extra virgin olive oil, and chopped basil. Marinate for 15 minutes. Place the bocconcini balls and the strawberries on a leaf of lettuce at the center of a serving dish. Garnish with whole basil leaves, season with freshly ground pepper, and sprinkle with maple flakes.

Suggestion

Balsamic reduction
To make a balsamic reduction, bring a quantity of Irresistibles balsamic vinegar to a boil and cook to a syrupy consistency, reducing the vinegar by about one half.
