Apple and Maple Syrup Dumplings

Ingredients

Add all
  • 1 1/2 cup
    (375 mL)

    all-purpose flour

  • 1 Tbsp.
    (15 mL)

    baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp.
    (2 mL)

    cinnamon

  • 1 pinch

    table salt

  • 1/3 cup
    (80 mL)

    vegetable fat

  • 1

    egg

  • 1/2 cup
    (125 mL)

    plain yoghurt

  • 1/2 cup
    (125 mL)

    grated maple sugar

  • 1

    large apple, peeled and grated

  • syrup:

  • 1 1/2 cup
    (375 mL)

    Maple syrup

  • 2 cups
    (500 mL)

    water

Preparation

In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.

In another bowl, mix well the vegetable fat, egg, yoghurt, maple sugar and grated apple. Fold into the dry ingredients. Set aside.

In a small pan, pour maple syrup and water. Bring to a boil.

When the syrup boils, add dough balls.

Lower heat to medium, cover and simmer gently 3 minutes.

Turn dumplings, cover and cook 3 minutes more.
