  • 1 1/2 lb
    (680 g)

    ground meat, any kind (beef, pork, veal)

  • 2

    garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1

    green onion or chives, chopped

  • 1

    jalapeño, seeded and minced

  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

  • 3 oz
    (90 g)

    havarti cheese, cut into 4 slices

  • 4

    onion buns

  • 1/4 cup
    (60 mL)


  • 4 tsp.
    (20 mL)


  • 4

    fresh tomato

  • onion, thinly sliced to taste

  • 4

    slices cooked bacon, cut in two


Preheat barbecue to medium.

In a bow, mix ground meat, garlic, green onion, jalapeño, salt and pepper together. Make 4 thin patties.

Barbecue patties on oiled grill 4-5 minutes per side or until thoroughly cooked.

Top with cheese during last minutes of cooking.

Combine mayonnaise and pesto and spread on buns. Add patties, sliced tomato and onion and bacon.
