French Toast with Apples and Dried Raisins

    apples, peeled and sliced

  • 1 Tbsp.
    (15 mL)

    lemon juice

  • 2 Tbsp.
    (30 mL)

    butter

  • 2 Tbsp.
    (30 mL)

    brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup
    (125 mL)

    dried raisins

  • 3

    eggs

  • 2 cups
    (500 mL)

    milk

  • 6 slices

    crusted bread about 1/2 in. (1.25 cm) thick

  • Maple syrup to taste

Preparation

Pre-heat the oven to 200°C / 400°F.

In a bowl, spray the apples with the lemon juice and set aside.

In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the brown sugar. Add the apples and dried raisins. Cook for 3 to 4 min. Pour the mixture into a pyrex dish (33 cm x 25 cm, 13 inch. x 10 inch.).

In a bowl, beat the eggs with the milk. Dip the bread slices into the mixture and immediately place onto the apples.

Pour in the remaining mixture and bake in the oven for 25 min. Grill for 3 min.

Serve with maple syrup and fresh fruit.
