Ingredients

Add all
  • 4 1/2 lbs
    (2 kg)

    red tomatoes

  • 5

    apples

  • 5

    pears

  • 7

    peaches

  • 1

    green bell pepper

  • 3

    onions

  • 2 cups
    (500 mL)

    vinegar

  • 1 lb
    (450 g)

    brown sugar

  • 1 1/2 tsp.
    (8 mL)

    Salt

  • 5 tsp.
    (25 mL)

    marinating spices

Preparation

Blanch the tomatoes 1 to 2 minutes. Let cool, then peel and cut into cubes.

Peel the fruits and vegetables and cut them into cubes.

Place the vinegar, brown sugar and salt in a large pot.

Heat to melt the sugar. Remove from the heat.

Put the spices in a cheesecloth pouch.

Add the fruits, vegetables and spices to the pot.

Bring to boiling and allow to simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring often.

Remove the spice bag.

Sterilize glass jars for 20 minutes at 200°F / 95°C

Pour the ketchup into the jars, seal, and store in a cool, dry, dark spot 8 to 12 months.
