Mozzarella-Salami Nibbles

Ingredients

Add all
  • 2 cups
    (500 ml)

    pizza mozzarella cheese, grated

  • 1

    egg, beaten

  • 1 Tbsp.
    (15 mL)

    fresh basil, chopped

  • 2 oz
    (60 g)

    salami, diced

  • Freshly ground pepper to taste

  • 2/3 cup
    (170 mL)

    plain bread crumbs

  • 3 Tbsp.
    (45 mL)

    olive oil

  • 12

    italian plum tomatoes

Preparation

In a bowl, combine the pizza mozzarella cheese, egg, basil and salami. Season to taste.

Shape mixture into 12 walnut-sized balls and flatten slightly. Press into bread crumbs to coat.

Refrigerate one hour.

In a non-stick pan, heat the oil and brown the balls 2 minutes on each side, or until crisp and golden.

Serve hot on a slice of tomato.
