Ingredients

  • 1

    navel oranges, unpeeled and chopped

  • cookies:

  • 1 1/2 cup
    (375 mL)

    flour

  • 1/2 tsp.
    (2 mL)

    baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp.
    (1 mL)

    Salt

  • 1/2 cup
    (125 mL)

    butter

  • 1/2 cup
    (125 mL)

    white sugar

  • 1/2 cup
    (125 mL)

    brown sugar

  • 1

    egg

  • 1/2 cup
    (125 mL)

    walnuts, chopped

  • icing:

  • 1 cup
    (250 mL)

    icing sugar

  • 1-2 tsp.
    (5-10 mL)

    squeezed orange juice

  • 1 tsp.
    (5 mL)

    butter, softened

  • 1 tsp.
    (5 mL)

    orange rind

Preparation

Cookies :

Mix flour, baking soda and salt. Mix butter and sugars in a bowl. Add the egg and the chopped orange. Mix well.

Incorporate gradually the dry ingredients, and add the nuts. Cover for at least one hour.

Preheat the oven at 375°F / 190°C. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls on a greased cookie sheet.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Cool before icing.

Icing :

Mix all the ingredients until perfectly blended. Spread icing in cooled cookies with the back of a spoon.
