Ingredients

Add all

    chopped portobello mushrooms

  • 19 oz
    (540 mL)

    can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained

  • 3

    shallots, chopped

  • 4

    garlic cloves, chopped

  • 3 Tbsp.
    (45 mL)

    olive or canola oil

  • 2 Tbsp.
    (30 mL)

    Dijon mustard

  • 1/4 cup
    (60 mL)

    any low sodium broth

  • 1 pinch

    nutmeg

  • 1 pinch

    cinnamon

  • 1 pinch

    cloves

  • 1 pinch

    pepper

  • 1 pinch

    Salt

Preparation

Using a pestle or a blender (stick or stand), mash all the ingredients in the order listed into a purée (coarse or smooth).

Spread on whole grain bread or crackers.

Serve as a snack or an accompaniment.

Refrigerate leftovers.
