    cucumbers sliced

  • 3

    beets cooked, peeled and diced

  • 10 oz
    (280 g)

    smoked herring fillets cut up

  • 8

    eggs hardboiled, cut in two

  • sauce:

  • 3/4 cup
    (190 mL)

    whipping cream

  • 2 Tbsp.
    (30 mL)

    white vinegar

  • 2 tsp.
    (10 mL)

    dried dill

  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste


Arrange sliced cucumbers, diced beets, herring and hardboiled eggs attractively on a platter.

In a small bowl, mix cream, vinegar, dill, salt and pepper together.

Ladle a little sauce over herring and vegetables.

Set out remaining sauce in a sauce boat.
