Cut grapefruit into supremes, reserving 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) of juice.
Measure 1 cup (250 mL) of grapefruit sections. Cut into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
Peel avocados and mash with a fork until somewhat smooth, with some small chunks.
Stir in onion, sour cream, garlic powder and salt.
Gently fold in grapefruit juice and pieces.
Serve immediately or cover and chill until serving time.
