In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, onion soup mix, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.Rub mixture into the brisket on all sides and place in the refrigerator to marinate for a minimum of 1 hour.When ready to cook, place the brisket into a roasting bag and add in the onions, apples and 2 cups of apple juice. Seal the bag with a twist tie and place the bag in a roasting pan. Poke a few small holes into the top of the bag to allow steam to escape.Bake in a 375-degree oven for 1.5 hours or until brisket is fork tender and/or reads 205- degrees on an internal meat thermometer.Remove brisket from bag and allow to cool before slicing.Meanwhile, pour the excess juices along with the apples and onions into a saucepan. Bring to a boil and slowly stir in the corn starch/water mixture until incorporated. Allow the sauce to reduce until thicker- about 15 minutes. Set aside.To serve, place sliced brisket on a platter, spoon over the sauce. Enjoy!Notes: Alternate cooking instructions, if you do not have a roasting bag, you can place entire brisket and juices into a Dutch oven, cover and bake at 300-degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes per pound of your brisket.To make in advance, once brisket is done, wrap entire brisket in tin foil and place in refrigerator. To reheat, slice the brisket while cold and place the slices into a roasting pan with the sauce. Cover and bake at 350- degrees for 30 minutes or until warm.Source: Metro
