Using a peeler, shave cucumber and carrot lengthwise into long thin strips. Put the shaved vegetables in a salad bowl along with the other ingredients, except for the tuna and dressing ingredients. In a small bowl, whisk dressing ingredients together. Set aside. Cut tuna steaks into strips 1/2 in. (1 cm) thick. Just before serving, drizzle salad with dressing and top with smoked tuna strips.

    coconut milk
  • 2 Tbsp.
    (30 mL)
    fresh lime juice
  • 1 Tbsp.
    (15 mL)
    extra virgin olive oil or toasted sesame seed oil
  • 1/2 tsp.
    (2 mL)
    hot pepper paste

  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
