Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C. Bake pie shell 15 minutes. Remove and set aside. Arrange peach halves in shell. In a bowl, beat eggs, sugar, milk and cornstarch together well. Microwave at high 1 1/2 minutes. Remove and whisk well. Microwave 1 more minute until smooth. Remove and whisk in vanilla extract. Pour custard over peaches. Garnish with almonds and bake on lower rack 30 minutes.
