Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and molasses. Using a hand mixer, beat until smooth and creamy. Add egg and mix. In another bowl, sift dry ingredients together. Stir into butter-sugar mixture. Refrigerate dough 10 minutes to firm it up. Roll out dough on parchment paper to 1/4 in. (5 mm) thick. Cut out desired shapes and place on a baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely before decorating.

Preparation
