Easter activities at home

Are your kids eagerly awaiting Easter?

5 ideas for celebrating Easter at home

You can have fun celebrating indoors

Fun Easter activities for your kids

You don’t need to go outside if you want to celebrate Easter! Here are 5 fun activities you can do with your kids in the comfort of your own home.

1Organize an indoor Easter egg hunt

Turn your home into an Easter playground for your kids! Hide their eggs in unexpected locations such as under furniture, in the microwave, behind the TV, in planters… Get creative! To make it even more fun, add hints and issue challenges. For instance, you can draw bunny footprints with white chalk near one of the hidden eggs or add a note that issues a challenge to your child which will then lead to a hint for the location of their next egg.

2Create your own Easter chocolate

Get your children’s favourite chocolate (dark, milk, or white) as well as any leftover nuts, candy, and rice cereal (like Rice Krispies). Melt the chocolate in a pot on low and scoop a spoonful of the melted chocolate onto some parchment paper. Add the topping of your choice then cover in more melted chocolate. Let cool for about half an hour before enjoying. Tip: assemble one chocolate treat at a time to make sure it cools at the same rate!

3Create personalized cards for your loved ones

Your loved ones can’t celebrate Easter in person with you? Then get your kids ready for some arts and crafts! Share the spirit of the holiday with uncles, aunts, grandparents, cousins, or friends who can’t be with you by sending them personalized cards! All you need are a few envelopes, cardstock paper in various colours, glue, and markers. Use the cardboard paper to draw outlines of chicks, bunnies, eggs, or any other symbol you associate with Easter. Stick these onto the front of your envelopes once you’ve inserted your letter and it’s ready to be sealed.

4Decorate eggs

An essential part of any Easter festivities! Start by washing the shells and emptying them of their contents using a needle. Blow into one of the two holes (without touching the egg with your mouth) and drain the contents into a bowl. You can then use this to make a delicious omelet! Wash the shells a second time and let them dry. The fun part can now begin. Draw colourful shapes on the shells with markers or poster paint! Don’t be afraid to give free rein to your imagination!

Bonus activity: if you’re up for it, you can make a garland with all the decorated shells. Simply string them up (using the holes you punctured in the shells earlier) for a beautiful Easter decoration. Your kids will be able to proudly show off the fruits of their labour!

5It’s springtime! Start your seeds

The long Easter weekend is the perfect time to plant some seeds! It’s also a great opportunity to get your kids interested in gardening and to enjoy an eco-friendly activity as a family. Order some soil and seeds online and reuse your old egg cartons. Put some soil along with one or several seeds (depending on the type of plant) in each cup of the egg holder. The cardboard will remain humid and help the seeds germinate. Once a seedling starts to sprout, you can transplant it (with the cardboard) directly into a planter or in the earth. The egg carton is biodegradable and will gradually disappear!

Recipes for your Easter brunches

Celebrating Easter is also a time to sit the whole family down to a great meal. Here are a few ideas for simple recipes you can serve for Easter brunch. The kids will love it… and so will the adults!
