In a large casserole, melt butter over low heat.
Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Add a few drops of food colouring, stir, and remove from heat.
Add cereal and stir until well coated.
Melt chocolate in the micro-wave.
On a buttered cookie sheet, spread mixture and, using a buttered spatula, pat down to the thickness of the cookie cutters.
Pour the chocolate over the mixture and let cool at room temperature.
Using a cookie cutter, lift out heart shapes and decorate with your favourite candies.
