Pour water into a large saucepan and simmer spare ribs for 40 minutes, covered. Preheat barbecue at medium high. In a shallow glass dish, mix all marinade ingredients. Add drained spare ribs and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours. Cook spare ribs on the oiled barbecue grill about 10 minutes per side. Brush only with marinade while cooking.
